About Tanya
I’m Tanya Davis, a registered social worker in Port Alberni, BC, with many years of experience supporting children and families across various settings, including government agencies and non-profit services. My passion lies in using my social work and clinical skills, combined with creativity, to help children and youth overcome their struggles, heal from their pain, and move forward in life to where they can truly thrive.
Guiding you Toward Recovery
Hi, I'm Tanya Davis.
In addition to working with children, I’m dedicated to being a compassionate advocate and support for parents and caregivers. I offer insights, tools, and strategies that empower them to help their children grow and flourish. While my primary focus is on children, I also provide specialized counselling services for adults. Using proven techniques such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I support adults dealing with depression, anxiety, addictions, grief, loss, and trauma.
Counselling is an important part of the process, but it’s only one piece. Healing also requires making positive changes in your daily life. This might include joining a gym and establishing an exercise routine, practicing yoga, engaging in breathwork, eating healthy, connecting with friends, family and community, or any other activities that support your mind, body, and spirit. These practices help reinforce the strategies we discuss in our sessions, creating a more comprehensive approach to your recovery.
Education
I earned my Master of Social Work, specializing in Indigenous Studies, from the University of Victoria in 2015. Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Social Work, also with a focus on Indigenous Studies, at UVic in 2008, and a Human Services Diploma from North Island College in 2005.
